Finished the banner. Let’s hope it makes EqD, hmm?
And now I must sleep. I have work in 4 1/2 hours. Night!
Only few hours’ worth of work left I think. Just look at that water!
I’ve marked an area of the image I’m going to crop and send to EqD as a potential banner to celebrate The Last of Us being released tomorrow. They usually use banners to celebrate game releases, so if this image has got the stuff, it has a shot!
As for the unfinished parts of the image that won’t appear in the banner, I will finish the rest of the image in good time.
I had an extremely busy day today and have been too tired to do much with this. So that means tomorrow is crunch time.
The layout is getting close to something I like.
That willow tree is staying, just needs to be coloured and drawn in a decent way. There will be a lot of brushes used to create different plants and foliage in the scene, and the whole image shall become a lot, lot darker to bring out some contrast between the light and shadows.
Going against what I said last night, I’m going to do the backdrop first, because it is the most fun, challenging, and time-consuming part, and rushing it is not an option. Flutters and Spike are much easier to draw in comparison, so it won’t hurt to leave them until last.
This place looks so… plain.
A very special Survivor Shy piece that currently does not exist in the fic’s canon. Why? Because this is actually going to be a crossover of The Last of Us, too. Spike just completes the child/guardian dynamic with Fluttershy, which makes them relevant to the dynamic between Joel and Ellie.
This is going to be a big challenge. And this is how it is going to go: Characters first; lines and flats. Then the cityscape, and finally the freaking details. Fun all around!
Oh and I gotta finish this for the 13th! Yep…

Freaking happy to have this finished. It’s been a while since I last drew something for Survivor Shy, and I actually feel glad after slogging through my laziness. I’m looking forward to writing the chapter now.

Still a lot left to do, but it’s really looking good now that it’s coming together.
Fluttershy is complete. Now I just need to draw the rest of the damn picture.
This might actually be the only new image I need to make for this chapter, which is good since I really really want to draw something else soon.
Okay, I don’t know if I’ve got this perspective right, so I’m just going to post this shot.
Basically the viewer is looking pretty much straight up, and directly overhead is an airship that has lost all support cables on the port (left) side. This has caused the entire vessel to dangle precariously from its remaining starboard (right side) cables, and pulled the starboard side of the balloon downwards.
In this same shot, Fluttershy has let go of the railing on the port side, and has started to freefall.
I worked out the perspective for the airship by holding up a remote control and an empty can. I believe I’ve got the perspective working in a logical sense, but I’ve been staring at it for so long that I think another pair of eyes would be a great idea.
So, from my scruffy sketch, do you think I’ve got a perspective that works with my intention?

Finished the request! Woo!
Now it’s time to work on Survivor Shy!
Let’s call this one-third finished, since I’m not sure if I’ll be needed to write anything on this cover such as the fic’s title.
Had fun drawing the lines and pretty much doing the whole render of AJ and the male pony mug. It took me four hours, which isn’t very fast, nor is it too slow for me. Still, lots to do tomorrow when I pick this up again.
OH and by the way, check out the eye details. Some pretty interesting differences lurk between AJ’s and the other pony’s
Wanted to start making an EqD-sized banner crossing Survivor Shy with The Last of Us, based upon the idea I had a couple of weeks ago.
I’m a bit iffy on using sketches I already have, so I started drawing some new sketches, and wound up with a Fluttershy who looks in between fatigued and disappointed. I felt it looked nice and decided to post it.
I’m probably going to make a bunch of sketches for the banner idea. I want to get it as close to perfect as my abilities currently allow. Plus I need the practice for drawing Spike.
