Working on it. I’ve been feeling much better today, I just have to get back into the swing of things and not stress over how many days it has been since the last update. Before I even earned my first EqD Drawfriend with this series, I’d take nearly a week to update the story, and with artwork that pales in comparison to what I make now.
Still, I should get this scene done sooner or later, and get cracking with an immediate follow up. Part of my difficulty with actually sitting down and drawing this scene once lied in not knowing the context of the scene, but now that I know the context, I can draw it with confidence.
Redrew her body, I simply cannot get my head around drawing a pony laying on their side like a cat right now, and I’m fairly certain a pony doesn’t sleep like that either.
So I resketched her body and now have her on her haunches, looking a bit more reserved, as if she is reflecting on something.
I just have to adjust her head so that the proportions and angle are correct, and rewatch a couple of episodes to ensure I’ve drawn her forelegs correctly. Though I do not really seek to emulate FiM style, the show is always the best guide for getting the anatomy right (and wrong-while-looking-right, since we’re talking about cartoon characters, too).
My bloody head is horrible right now. It’s kinda like how Littlepip describes being on withdrawal from Party Time Mintals feels like: the mind is slower, you just can’t function in real time, and it’s like a low ceiling is being put over your thoughts.
It’s hurting my progress on actually drawing and writing for Survivor Shy, because I cannot focus too long. I WILL get back into routine though, I’m in the middle ground between physically sick and feeling a little off. As long as I give myself some time to relax and recover, I’ll get better quickly.
An hour and a half later…
Fluttershy is finished. Colours, lines, and all (except shading, that comes when the environment is done.
Now to tackle that Dog… Let’s call him Spoon, after a bastard who cut in line in front of me about seven years ago, now.
I don’t hold grudges, I just remember weird crap.
"As dusk began to fall upon Everfree Forest, much sooner than I expected, I returned to the Old Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters for shelter for a second night.
"My stomach grumbled at me for not finding much food in the dense forest, but without any knowledge of the strange plantlife, I didn’t want to risk eating something that would make me ill. Water and a little bit of grass had to do, for now.
"I ambled through the castle to the Throne Room, where I would be staying for the night, and soon entered the vast space. I took my canteen and saddlebags off, feeling better to have shed the weight after carrying it non-stop for days on end, and settled down to sleep beside a window, where the bright stars offered a little security and comfort.
“‘Tomorrow’, I said to myself, ‘I’ll head for Canterlot. There must be somepony up there, somepony who can help.’ I gradually drifted off to sleep, hoping to escape reality for a few hours.
"I was being chased in a land of shadows of purple night-light. Everywhere I ran, my pursuer was close behind, waiting for me to make a mistake. It came all too soon.
"I ran into a wall, and frantically I looked around for a way around or over. Behind me, I could hear the thing chasing approaching, and desperately I tried to find an escape route, but I was trapped.
"Slowly, I turned around, and stared off into the shadows, and watched in terror as a sickly black and purple mist gave way to the black silhouette of a tall pony. I backed up against the wall and held my breath as the pony drew near. The completely blank space where its eyes should be narrowing into a smug look of satisfaction.
"In an otherworldly voice, it spoke to me ‘You may have got away the first time, little Fluttershy. But I will have you yet!’ Out of the dark smoke surrounding it, a tendril slowly reached forward, carrying a large, purple orb. Inside I could see the tiny silhouettes of ponies hopelessly floating around, and the orb seemed to be trying to pull me from my very bones. The pony silhouette waved a second tendril over the orb, and the scene changed to show a silhouette of a Pegasus who beared my Cutie Mark. ‘One day, Fluttershy, I will get you. I will take the very essence of your being and trap you for all eternity in this, and you shall become nothing more than a victim of my torment.’
"The silhouette motioned the orb away from me, and leant towards me. I turned my head away to avoid looking into the void space where its eyes should be. In a low, intimidating voice it finally said: ‘But until then, feel free to run away - I very much enjoy this chase, and no matter how far you go, I’ll always be right here.’ It tapped me on the side of my head. ‘Inside. Your. Head.’"

Survivor Shy FAQ: http://mattatatta.deviantart.com/journal/The-Survivor-Shy-FAQ-307861694
I’m extremely late with this, and I do apologise for that. I need to stop procrastinating.
If it looks like I’m toying with certain readers who have certain theories over the cause of the disaster in the story, it is because I am. That being said, I haven’t changed anything in the storyline to allow me to do that, it’s just a lovely coincidence.
There’s another scene that was originally going to be part of the animation, but I decide to not include it so that the animation could loop. For the sake of simplicity, both this animation, and the scene directly connected to it count as one scene, rather than two (So I’m still behind on an image).

Survivor Shy is on FimFiction
New updates will still be posted here, though. In fact, I’m gradually releasing the completed scenes on FimFiction so that new readers on that site can follow it gradually, like everybody has done so far.
Still, if you frequent that site more than here, you can always track the story there so that you are less likely to miss new scenes.
agentofdiscord asked: Drawing Request. Colonel Sanders riding a giantic Scootaloo.
I don’t even…
Anonymous asked: About the request, how about the original Fluttershy attacking Survivor Shy?
Since they’re essentially the same pony, the only way the ‘Original’ Fluttershy can harm ‘Survivor’ ‘Shy is also the most painful…
…and that is to remind her of what she doesn’t have, any more.
((I feel like pointing out that Survivor Shy’s colour scheme here is the colour scheme she’s had from the very beginning. Quite a contrast to her normal colouring, no?))
((Also, I scrapped another sketch in favour of this one. That sketch might re-appear as a wallpaper. Not sure yet.))
