Very nearly done. Just Rainbow and Rarity left, and a few bits of shading and details.
The hand-written text is a placeholder, I’m not confident in my own handwriting to consider worth keeping over something typed. I’m not even sure if any text will be in the picture when I’ve finished it - it may be best left to the requester if he so chooses.
I freaking love those eyes I’ve made, AJ’s eyes are Alasou-inspired, but the other two characters who have visible eyes are something I cobbled together from my own experience - which comes from borrowing from every artist beneath the sun. I think it offers a pretty interesting visual indicator as to their backgrounds.

Let’s call this one-third finished, since I’m not sure if I’ll be needed to write anything on this cover such as the fic’s title.
Had fun drawing the lines and pretty much doing the whole render of AJ and the male pony mug. It took me four hours, which isn’t very fast, nor is it too slow for me. Still, lots to do tomorrow when I pick this up again.

OH and by the way, check out the eye details. Some pretty interesting differences lurk between AJ’s and the other pony’s

Assuming there is nothing I have missed or forgotten, or nothing additional wanted by the requester, this sketch is ready for lines and colouring.

I just wanted to draw today; just sketch and practice. I’m not feeling the Survivor Shy sketch and I’ll probably make something else if I can’t put my digit on what it’s missing.
Anyway. Some head angle practice in the center that highlights how inconsistent and poor my pony heads are. I gave up drawing more angles in favour of taking notes from another artist’s work and trying it myself.
Once again, I looked over Alasou’s sketches and artwork and worked out a method to draw a quick and proportional head that kicks the backside of my clumsy approach. And I also learnt that I was drawing the muzzle’s too big to get the look I’m after.
Then I practiced eyes in Alasou’s style again, starting with the Fluttershy pair on the left, then the Rarity front-profile drawing, and finally combining it with some tips I was shown to draw that human-like eye.
In the end, I ran out of ideas and started filling space with nervous ‘shy, a random pony blowing a raspberry, another try at a different head style, and a very excited pony.
I probably spent about five to six hours on this canvas. A lot of that time was spent failing at the angled heads. When I finally did some studying and got the hang of it, I was scribbling superior pony heads in no more than ten minutes each.

So when drawing an entirely different picture of Rarity, in need of a reference, I googled “Horse sitting”. The resulting images were all really awkward, they look like they barely know HOW to sit! So I decided to draw ponies sitting in weird horse poses instead. Probably coulda pushed these a bit more but eh~

This is probably why I reference cats when drawing FiM ponies resting rather than referencing actual horses. For some reason it just looks better. The anatomy is similar, anyway.

I wasn’t going to do a background, I was originally going to draw a ton of props in the foreground instead.
I ended up drawing a background, and doing next to no props in the foreground. Deal with it.
I tried to do some decent shading, but I’m miles away from making something decent in mere hours. I do think what I managed is good though, just needs more improvement and practice.
Another item to mark off my list, no it’s just Shining Armour being caught wearing Cadence’s socks to draw. But that shall wait until tomorrow.

“After saving the evening with a marvellous and daring piece, Mister Sharp hired our ensemble to provide entertainment for his upcoming charity evening!”

I would be doing more of this tonight, but I’m really, really sleepy. Tomorrow, I’ll fully colour and shade this picture and try to make it look fabulous to compensate.

It’s done! itsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdoneitsdone!

The Prologue comic is done! It’s also got a massive piece of written prose to go along with it. It’s way too much to put into a post on Tumblr, so follow the source to read the story excerpt in the description if you’re up for it!

Afternoon Post by ~Mattatatta

Finished the last part of the Prologue comic for Survivor Shy. Tomorrow, I’ll be assembling all the parts and making the finishing touches.
And then, well, only Tumblr and Deviant Art will see it immediately. Why not FimFiction? Because I’m overhauling it, and before I can do that, I need to draw two new scenes for the very first chapter of Survivor Shy on FimFiction. So next week will see me doing that!
I’m already feeling more motivated to draw now that this major screw up and time-eater is almost at a close. And the fact this picture looks so good makes me happy, too!

I’m making a killing today. I’m so happy about that!

And it’s done. I took a little longer than expected due to Spike still being a challenge for me to draw, and Fluttershy’s pose being something I haven’t tried before.
I quite like how I managed to draw all of the Mane 6, I feel that the scene works pretty well with the placement of the characters and their reactions to what’s going on in the scene. Rarity is going to be fun to line and colour, all the time I spent slogging on her sketch has made her have a far better pose than I could’ve hoped for.
Anyway, I’ve just got to start tackling each character now. When I get this picture done, I’ll need to spend an hour or so in assembling to comic, adding the dialogue boxes, and making edits I cannot make without the comic being more complete.
Incase you’re wondering: I’m not going to edit already drawn parts of the comic to accommodate the new little detail I’m drawing for Fluttershy’s mane. I doubt it’s that noticeable anyway.

So many ponies. SO MANY PONIES.

One more update before Nightmare Night — fortunately it’s a relatively short one! Also with less ponies, why did I draw so many ponies.

Rarity is England’s reaction to an American accent.

This could not be any more true
